Trail Tales
Over Memorial Day weekend, 38 adventurers aged 5 to 80 came together for an unforgettable family camping trip in Michigan at the beautiful Camp Eberhart. Nestled along the shores of Corey Lake, this historic YMCA camp offered the perfect backdrop for a weekend filled with laughter, bonding, and outdoor adventures. Surrounded by lush greenery and endless recreational options, the Memorial Day camping getaway was everything we had hoped for—and more.
Day 1: Action-Packed Adventures
The day began with a serene morning yoga session at Camp Eberhart, led by the ever-energetic Prakash Valsangkar, whose enthusiasm at age 80 inspired everyone. The group then explored a range of family-friendly outdoor activities in Michigan: archery, kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing, climbing wall challenges, and a BB gun range. Games like foosball and cricket sparked friendly competition. As night fell, a roaring campfire brought everyone together for Antakshari—a nostalgic Indian musical game that filled the night with music, memories, and warmth.
Day 2: More Fun and a Musical Finale
The second day encouraged campers to revisit their favorite activities or try new ones. But the highlight of the day was the musical evening led by Vijay Nurani and Ulka Bhide. With karaoke in full swing, participants belted out their favorite songs and danced late into the night. The vibrant energy and camaraderie were the soul of this family camping experience in Michigan.
A Cycle of Joy: Eat, Play, Eat
The weekend followed a cheerful rhythm of “Eat, Play, Eat”. Delicious meals powered our non-stop adventures, while Camp Eberhart’s peaceful setting brought out the inner child in everyone. The environment fostered real connections and created beautiful memories to last a lifetime.
A Heartfelt Thank You
A big thank you to all participants for their spirit, cooperation, and teamwork, which made this camping trip such a resounding success. A special salute to Prakash Valsangkar, whose energy from sunrise yoga to night-time dancing was pure inspiration for all.
This Memorial Day weekend family trip to Camp Eberhart was more than just camping—it was a celebration of togetherness, nature, and the timeless joy of shared adventures. Everyone returned with full hearts, unforgettable stories, and the promise to return again.
