This trek is a challenging but rewarding experience. It requires a good level of physical fitness and mental preparedness. However, with proper training and the support of experienced guides, you can fulfill your dream of standing in the shadow of the world's highest mountain.
Upon arrival in Katmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, private transfer will be organized to your hotel. Local representative will meet you and have a full pre-climb briefing in the evening.
After Lunch we will start driving towards Mulkot. Room check-in at the hotel, there will be a short briefing and orientation about the trek.
Early morning transfer to the airport to fly to Lukla. This 25-minute flight provides a magnificent entry to the trek. It highlights the snowline of the Himalayan Range in the north and the rugged landing at the Lukla airport, which is said to be one of the most spectacular flights in the world. Upon arrival, the guide will organize the porters at the nearby lodge. During this break, the guests are welcome to explore this bustling town on top of a hill with rows of houses, hotels and shops lining both sides of the traditional cobbled street. The trek starts by following the trail leading to the northwest direction through the narrow street, which immediately descends from the end of the village on a trail through the open hillside. The trail is well defined and there are many shops and lodges catering to the trekkers. This day’s trek is an easy one and ultimately descends to the river at Phakding
We'll begin our trek by leaving the main village and following the trail along the left bank of the Dudh Kosi River. The morning's walk is a pleasant journey through picturesque agricultural landscapes and charming villages. After a steep 20-minute climb, we'll reach Monjo for a well-deserved lunch. Post-lunch, we'll ascend to the check post to verify our permits and officially enter Sagarmatha National Park. A short 10-minute descent, followed by a crossing over a suspension bridge, will lead us to Jorsale (2800m). The trail ahead, bustling with activity, offers stunning views of the west ridge of Kusum Kangru (6339m) as we traverse through quaint villages and serene pine forests.
We'll continue our journey along the Dudh Kosi River, crossing a somewhat precarious suspension bridge. A challenging, steep climb will then take us to Namche Bazaar. As we gain altitude, the air thins, making breathing slightly more difficult. However, the reward is breathtaking: our first glimpse of the majestic Mt. Everest (8848m), Nuptse (7879m), and Lhotse (8383m). This awe-inspiring sight will make the arduous climb worthwhile.
After nearly 3 hours of ascent, we'll reach a gate marked "Welcome to Namche Bazaar." However, the main town is still a 20-minute walk away. This prosperous town, the largest in Khumbu, is dominated by the sacred mountain Khumbila (5707m) to the west. The towering peaks of Mt. Thamserku (6648m) and Kwangde Ri (6624m) frame the village to the east and west.
Today is an acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar. To aid the process, we will trek to the Everest View Hotel, situated at an altitude of 3,962 meters (13,000 feet). Following the principle of "climb high, sleep low," this activity will help your body adjust to the elevation. From the Everest View Hotel, you’ll be treated to stunning views of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kwangde Ri, and Khumbila.
In the evening, you can take a leisurely stroll around Namche Bazaar or relax with a coffee at one of its charming restaurants, soaking in the picturesque views of the valley.
After breakfast, we'll descend through a lush rhododendron forest, keeping an eye out for the elusive Blood Pheasant and Imperial Pheasant. We'll pause for lunch at Phunki Thanga (3200m), a picturesque spot beside a river and large prayer wheels.
The afternoon brings a steady climb to Thyangboche Monastery, offering stunning views of Ama Dablam, Everest, Nuptse, and Lhotse. This important monastery is a place of pilgrimage for many, and you'll have the opportunity to explore its serene surroundings.
After a visit to the monastery, we'll descend steeply through a mixed forest of birch, conifer, and rhododendron to Deboche.
Today, we embark on a challenging trek to Dingboche. After breakfast, we'll follow a relatively flat path for about half an hour, before ascending towards the picturesque village of Pangboche (4010m). This charming Sherpa village offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. After a lunch break in the nearby village of Tshomare, we'll continue our ascent.
The trail will take us through breathtaking landscapes, crossing the Khumbu Khola. As we climb higher, we'll be rewarded with panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and other majestic peaks. Finally, we'll arrive at Dingboche, a high-altitude village nestled amidst stunning mountain scenery.
This day, post breakfast we go out for acclimatization walk to nearby hillock. We will try gain height of 300 meter and from the top, we will be able to see the beautiful views of Mt. Tawache, Ama Dablam, Island Peak, Lhotse, Everest, and Pumori.
On the way to Lobuche, we'll be rewarded with breathtaking view of the Mt. Cholatese (6443m/21,140 ft.), back on the Westside route Mt. Ama Dablam (6856m/22,495 ft.). After arrival at the ridge, descend for about ten minutes, cross a bridge and arrive at Thugla (4620m/15,158 ft.) for an early lunch. (Note: due to unavailability of water, this is the only lunch stop available). After lunch, the ascent is very steep for about one hour to reach Sherpa Memorial place founded in remembrance to those mountaineers who died during expeditions. Jouney along the jumbled moraines and scattered rocks passing by the memorials of Rob Hall and Yasuko Namba and others who perished during the Mt. Everest disaster of 1996. The memorial chortens dots the skyline facing the mountains and overlooking the valley below. Further on the trail leads to the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier with stunning views of Pumori (7165m/23,508 ft.). The stark and the rugged beauty create almost a moonscape. The campsite Lobuche is reached after another hour of steady trekking through the moraine and is situated in a windswept valley with the views of Nuptse.
Today, we start early on a challenging trek to Everest base. After about one and half hour of walk we can see the Khumbu Glacier. The path becomes tougher not because it’s uphill, but because of the rocky nature and also due to the high altitude. We reach Gorakshep in about three hours and take a short break. Leave your duffle bags in one of the lodges. This was the base camp of the 1952 Swiss Everest expedition. In 1953 the British Everest expedition called this ‘lake camp’. Gorakshep has a small lake that is usually frozen. The trek from Gorakshep to Everest Base Camp is a tougher but rewarding experience. You'll traverse the rugged terrain of the Khumbu Glacier, surrounded by towering peaks like Nuptse, Lhotse, and, of course, Everest itself. Everest base camp is not actually a specific site. Various expeditions have set up a semi-permanent camp at different locations for their ascent to Mount Everest. Some of the sites that expeditions have used as base camps are identifiable from debris on the glacier at 5340m or more. The trek to base camp is fascinating but doesn’t offer views of Everest itself from base camp. Take your pictures at the iconic boulder used to identify the Everest base camp.
This is one of the most beautiful days of the trek, offering breathtaking views of several stunning peaks, including Mount Everest. We will start early in the morning with a steep uphill climb to Kala Patthar. It’s important to pace yourself and move at a speed you find comfortable. From the summit of Kala Patthar, you’ll witness magnificent panoramas of the Himalayan range, featuring peaks like Lingtren, Khumbutse, Chagtse, and Everest itself, standing near the impressive Nuptse. The ascent takes approximately three hours, including multiple stops to catch your breath and soak in the scenery. Once at the top, we’ll spend some time savoring the awe-inspiring views and capturing unforgettable moments in our cameras. After enjoying a packed breakfast, we’ll begin our descent down the valley, marking the start of our journey back to civilization. It will take around 4-5 hours to reach Pheriche, where we’ll have dinner and spend the night at a lodge.
After a nourishing breakfast, we'll retrace our steps through the charming, walled village of Thyangboche. We'll then descend to a bridge, crossing over to the other side. A gradual ascent along the hillside will lead us to a pass adorned with prayer flags. From here, we'll begin a continuous descent, merging with the main trail from Dingboche. A 45-minute walk will bring us to the picturesque village of Somare (4010m). After passing through the village, we'll ascend along the hillside, overlooking the stunning Dudh Kosi River. This scenic hike will lead us to the charming village of Pangboche (3985m), an ideal spot for a leisurely lunch. Post-lunch, we'll continue our journey towards Khumjung. The trail gradually descends towards Thyangboche via Deboche, offering breathtaking views of the majestic Himalayas along the way. This relatively easy day involves gentle ups and downs, allowing us to soak in the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
In the morning, start the trek towards Namche by following the path round the eastern flanks of the hills. At the rear is the beautiful west face of the Thamserku (6,608m) and Kang Taiga (6,685m). From Namche Bazaar head to the end of the village and then immediately start to descend to the river. Head along the banks of the river and then further descend to Monjo for overnight..
