Journey Overview
Your journey through China begins in Beijing, where centuries of imperial history sit alongside the everyday rhythms of a changing capital. From your first encounter with the city's traditional neighborhoods, you begin discovering China through its people and traditions.
As you explore the Great Wall, practise Tai Chi and walk through the extraordinary Forbidden City, China's cultural heritage becomes something you experience rather than simply observe. The journey then carries you by high-speed train to Xi'an, where ancient city walls, lively markets, the Terracotta Army and the performing arts of the Tang Dynasty reveal another chapter of the country's remarkable history.
From Xi'an, you travel to Zhangjiajie, where dramatic sandstone formations rise above forested valleys and winding streams. Here, your experiences shift from historic cities to extraordinary natural landscapes, with visits to the Glass Bridge, Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain and Tianmen Mountain. The final chapter unfolds in Shanghai, where traditional gardens, cultural workshops, historic streets and contemporary architecture bring together China's past and present.
Over 11 thoughtfully structured days, the journey combines guided cultural sightseeing, traditional workshops, performances, mountain attractions and city experiences.
